Author Peng-Lee Man:The move of RFA has shown its nature in opposing the central government and stirring up disorder in Hong Kong society
The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s Safeguarding National Security Ordinance was recently enacted. Author Peng-Lee Man, from WenWeiPo has stated in their opinion piece that in the fear of implementing “The National Security Law”, United States sponsored Radio Free Asia (RFA) has closed their Hong Kong office. This move has shown its nature in opposing the central government and stirring up disorder in Hong Kong society.
The opinion piece has pointed out that the RFA has been producing fake news and slandering Hong Kong’s rule of law on a long-term basis. It even sided with violent protestors in smearing Hong Kong police during 2019’s Extradition Law Disturbance, fostering negative sentiments against policemen among regular citizens. The improved business environment and strengthened foreign business confidence after the implementation of the “National Security Law” is a strong contrast compared with RFA’s biased reports. This opinion piece has mentioned that one day after the Legislative Council of Hong Kong passed the “National Security Law” unanimously, another 25 foreign enterprises have signed with the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES) to settle down or expand their business in Hong Kong, while 6 of these enterprises are from the United States. In addition, Chambers of Commerce from overseas have expressed their understanding in Hong Kong’s legal legislation to maintain national security and they are confident in Hong Kong’s future. They believe that the legal legislation will improve and stabilize Hong Kong’s business environment.
This opinion piece pointed out that the RFA has been acting as a propaganda machine for the United States and its Anti-China Western Allies. It has been generating Anti-China narratives and stirring up disorders in society in the name of news reporting. It provides nothing constructive but only chaos. It is now using its closure of the Hong Kong office to support its narrative that Hong Kong’s freedom of press will be damaged after the enactment of the National Security Law. This is just another one of their tricks in collusion with foreign power to smear Hong Kong, utilizing the closure of the Hong Kong office as their final attempt.
